joão macdowell
IBOC Artistic Director and co-founder, Joao MacDowell is a Brazilian composer known for fusing contemporary and popular styles with classical music. His work includes opera, symphonic, chamber music, and early albums of Brazilian pop. MacDowell has composed five operas and mentors composers in the form.
MacDowell is the author of Polyharmony and Consonance a manual of theory and practice to instruct on how to work with polyharmony and polyculture to create large architectural compositions.

Hugo Sanbone
Hugo Sanbone, conductor, composer, multi-instrumentalist and musical director with an innovative style, in his project presents compositions anchored in the mixture of rhythmic patterns and in the contemporary harmonic aesthetics of Salvador da Bahia, Brazil.

He is the founder and conductor of the Sanbone Pagode Orquestra. As the maestro of the Yemanja Project, Sanbone is developing and composing an opera with IBOC on the theme of Yemanja.
